BOAT | NAVASANA
Navasana is a core strengthening pose that creates whole body integration and balance. Abdominal work is key to any healthy yoga practice, because strong abdominals take unnecessary pressure off your lower back. Building core muscles creates inner strength and stability that gives you a deeper seat of power and balance throughout your body.
From the seated position. extend your legs strait to a 45 degree angle as you reach your arms forward, parallel to the floor. Contract your abdominal wall and lift your sternum. Gaze forward and breathe.
Balance on your tail and sitting bones. Use your core power to raise your legs and torso. Keep your lower back as strait as possible (avoid rounding or overarching). Press your thighs together. Activate your feet. Draw your sternum up to the sky.
Reach your arms forward and activate your hands.
You can either bend your knees slightly or work with one foot on the floor if lifting both legs feels too strenuous. You can also keep your hands on the floor as you extend your legs strait to maintain balance.
